So many times I went ahead of God and tried to help Him out, especially in situations that seemed impossible. Can you identify? God never needs our help in doing what he does best which is making the impossible possible. He knows both what is best and also when it is best to make it a reality in our lives. This is not to say that for the rest of our lives we are to fold our hands and never do anything again. No, we all know that faith without works is dead. So there has to be a balance. I know when I am guilty of sometimes doing too much. It’s good to remember that God created us as human beings and not human doings. It’s not just the physical part of us that needs to be still but also our soul and spirit. When we are busy doing, our mind is constantly going and trying to figure the situation out. Being still is demonstrating our complete trust in God’s will, power, and timing. Not only are we encouraged to be at rest but also to know God better. When we come across the word know in scripture, it usually means to know by experience, relationship, and through intimacy. The majority of the things that He does in our lives is to develop a deeper, closer, and more intimate connection with us. God wants us to know that He is loving, has our best interest at heart, and is strong enough to handle anything on His own. He also wants to get all the praise for what occurs in our lives which is why it is best for us to just leave it to Him. What situation in your life do you need to hand over to God?
.Psalm 46:10 (NLT) Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
