What are you thankful for today?

This question shouldn’t be hard to answer for us but we sometimes forget to give thanks. It’s even harder to remember to be grateful when things are not going so well in our lives. It is during these times we should be reminded that there is always something to be grateful for and things could always be worse. It’s all about perspective and being thankful can help us view our lives through the right lens. Maybe you lost that good job but you’re still alive, have good health, and have the skills to land an even better position. Maybe you’re still single but you still have family, friends, and a good future to look forward to. Now that’s something to be grateful for! Perhaps a loved one has passed away but you are blessed to have had them in your life and you have good memories of them. This one is personal to me with the recent passing of my younger sister. No I don’t understand why she had to pass so young and it hurts deeply. However, I find myself thanking God everyday that I have 34 years of good memories of her and will remember the things that she taught me. Even if you are not able to identify with any of these situations, you are able to see, read, and understand what is written in this blog. Those may be small things to you but they are things to be grateful for too. Just imagine how our lives would be so different without having the ability to see, read, or comprehend. Being thankful can change our outlook on life and it gives God the praise that He deserves. Today I challenge us to commit to pause at the beginning and end our days and thank God for at least 5 things. This shouldn’t be hard to do and watch the difference it makes in your life. If you feel inclined, drop a line in the comments section and share what you are grateful for today.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
